This month we have interviewed Adriana Torcat, a famous urban planer in our country and internationally recognized. Graduated at the Universidad Simón Bolívar in 2012, now she has her own company and comes here to talk about her wonderful career.
- Hello Adriana, how are you today? Thank you for coming.
- Hello Maria Daniela, thaks for inviting me!! I´m fine, working a lot!!
- Tell me a little about the master you did at USB?
- Well I did a master in urban transport. I had two years of hard work because a couldn´t leave my job, but it was a wonderful experience for me and now I can propose solutions to some traffic problems in our city.
- May you tell me about how did you start your company?
- The idea of my company surged because I wanted to give solutions to different problems of our society like insecurity, the lack of housing and some other important problems.
- What type of projects do you do in Empresas y soluciones Torcat?
- We design new neighborhoods for people of scarce resources, we design new roadways, develop plans for public transport and we try to improve public spaces in the city.
- Have you always work here in Venezuela?
- Yes, Empresas y Soluciones Torcat is a national company but we have received offers from other Latin American countries to work with architects and urban planners.
- Which project are you known for?
- Jajaja well our project for the rehabilitation of Petare is recognized for the improvements brought to its inhabitants and also the project for the creation of new city in Yaracuy.
- What do you think about traffic problems in Caracas? Do you see any relation with busses stop and this problem?
- I think the problem is the high density of cars in the city and the low occupancy rate per car.
- Have you a proposal to solve this problem?
- Yes, I think if we improve the quality and reach of public transport and encourage people to use more than private cars the problem might be less traumatic.
- What are your plans for the future of your company?
- We are trying to get more international attention and get more sponsors for our projects and we are designing other cities around the country
